A philological study on poisoning of Calomelas(ÌîÝÏ)

Abstract

|
Calomelas is in use in Korean medicine. The Korean medical doctors use Calomelas for eliminating toxic material(ÍôÔ¸), destroying parasites and relieving itching(߯õùòåÊ), etc. We investigated toxicity, poisoning symptoms, poisoning treatment and prevention against poisoning of Calomelas. The results were summarized as follows£º 1. The main ingredients of poisoning are mercuric chloride, mercury protochloride, mercuric salt, etc. The ingredients of poisoning from Calomelas mainly cause stimulating symptoms on the mucous membrane of skin, blood system, nervous system, digestive system, urinary system, respiratory system, etc. 2. The representative methods of poisoning treatment in western medicine are washing out the stomach, supplies of grape sugar, causing diarrhea, administering toxicide and symptomatic treatment, etc. 3. The representative methods of poisoning treatment in Korean medicine take advantage of herbs, such as Phaseoli Radiati Semen(ÒÑÔç), Glycyrrhizae Radix(Êöõ®), Camelliae Folium(Òþç¨), Smilacis Glabrae Rhizoma(÷ÏÜÚ?), and Hwangryunhaedog-tang(üÜÖ§ú°Ô¸÷·), etc. And Korean medical doctors should meet symptoms as patients call for attention. 4. In order to prevent against poisoning of Calomelas, the patients should keep usage, dosage and notes.
